HIV Care

HIV Care refers to the comprehensive medical and supportive services provided to individuals living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The primary objective of HIV care is to manage the virus, improve the quality of life, and prevent the progression to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). This care includes antiretroviral therapy (ART), which helps suppress the viral load in a person’s body, ensuring that they can maintain a healthy immune system.

Additionally, HIV care encompasses regular medical check-ups, monitoring of overall health, management of any co-occurring infections or conditions, mental health support, counseling, and assistance with navigating social and legal challenges related to living with HIV.

HIV care ideally adopts a holistic approach, addressing the physical, emotional, and social aspects of the individual’s well-being. It is crucial for individuals with HIV to engage with healthcare services consistently, as timely interventions can significantly enhance their health outcomes and reduce the risk of transmission to others.
